§5 Superscription to the Vision Reports and Oracles (Zech. 1:7)

1:7 / The series of eight visions that Zechariah describes in the following chapters (1:8–6:15) are dated On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month . . . in the second year of Darius, which was the month of Shebat (15 February, 519 B.C.). This date is three months later than the date in 1:1 and two months after the date of Haggai 2:10, 18, and 20. The rest of the superscription is identical to 1:1, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo. Revelation in the form of visions is introduced here as “the word of the Lord.” This vision report section also includes additional oracles. Both what was seen and what was heard were from God.
